Looking back on 2016

Another year gone by, another year of travel, laughter, business lessons and learning. This has been a great year of business growth for me and I am confident 2017 is going to be a great one. I have teamed up with some incredible people this year, gained new and exciting clients and joined forces with some exciting companies.

This year has rolled out some of my most successful ventures and collaborations as well as some of my favorite shoots! At the beginning of the year I had the pleasure of talking at the UK Photo Show on the Super Stage as well as the Canon Stage. I hosted 4 photography workshops – Milan, London, New York and California (where I joined photographer Emily Soto for our ‘Create Retreat workshop). Travelled a TON (come on airline miles make yourself useful!!!) and worked for some old and new fabulous clients such as Air France, Reem Acra, Misha Nonoo, Dorothy Perkins, Lipsy, Harrods, Tatler Hong Kong and Interview Online. This year also opened doors to working as a brand influencer with brands such as Emporio Armani and Barney’s!

Thanks to all of you who have supported my journey this year – whether through following, liking, commenting, messaging me directly – ALL of your support is appreciated and I am grateful to you. SO many of you comment to tell me that you’ve watched my career since my early days on DeviantART and it’s crazy for me to think that a lot of you have followed my journey from the beginning. Not much has changed thirteen years down the line from joining my very first social media website and picking up a camera – I’m still figuring things out, I’m still pushing for my work to be seen by the right eyes and I’m still learning EVERY single day. If you’re NOT learning or failing then you will never see improvement.
Being a freelancer is not easy but the highs of this job are what keep you going. I love being able to meet new people on a daily basis, work with people I call friends, have creative conversations with those around me and be able to CREATE when I want as well as when clients ask me to.

I am entering the new year with a positive mindset and a reminder that sometimes it’s ok to take a breather. Looking back and reflecting is inspiring and a good reminder on what you’ve achieved. Running to fast means you never get a chance to see how far you’ve come!

Best wishes for 2017!
