UK Photo Show 2016 & Milan Workshop

So what’s on the cards for me over the next few months? My next trip will be to the UK where I’ll be talking on the Super Stage for the Photo Show and delivering 3 mini workshops for Canon UK (I’ll post the details for Canon UK when I have them). You can view more details and book your ticket for the Super Stage talk on the UK Photo Show website. The talk will be on 20th March at 1.30PM.

I’ll be doing a talk on my 10 year journey and the steps I’ve taken to get where I am today (I’ll be a few months shy of my 10 year work anniversary when I deliver the talk). If anyone would have told a shy 17 year old me the day I walked into HSBC to set up my business account that I’d be living and working in New York I would have laughed. I want to open the curtain to what it’s like to be a young working photographer in this industry – the hurdles you have to take but the joys of being inspired every day.

For Canon UK, I’ll be delivering 3 mini workshops covering beauty and posing. The details for all of these workshops are below –
Saturday 19th – 15:45-16:30 – Posing 101
Sunday 20th – 11:15-12.00 – Beauty 101
Monday 21st – 13:30-14:15 – Posing 101

So why these topics? I ALWAYS get asked what my ‘posing formula’ is for shoots and although I have rules for what works and what doesn’t (that I regularly teach in seminars and workshops), the best way to understand is to do it yourself. I learn from my subjects, I mirror pose what they are doing then make suggestions. The more you take in the more you remember. Do your research and have posing boards to help you on set. Your subject will be most comfortable when you are comfortable. If you have confidence and know what you are doing, take the lead and your subject will follow.
For beauty – I want to help you expand your knowledge of beauty photography and teach you what editors and agencies look for. This will be a live demo and showcase one beauty look and light set ups that are essential for beauty photography – it’s all about the detail.

Following from the UK Photo Show I’ll be heading to Milan to host one of my two day photography intensive courses. This is a hands on photography experience and will cover everything you need to know about working in the creative/fashion industry. We will cover lighting, posing, marketing, pitching, social media, retouching and workflow.
My goal with these two days intensives is that you work away feeling inspired, refreshed and ready to incorporate these new creative lessons into your own business structure.
You can find out more details for this on my workshop schedule.

Hopefully see some of you there!
